Cable laying is an extremely important link in power engineering, and its quality directly affects the safe operation and service life of power system. Whether in construction sites, factories, urban power grids or communication systems, scientific and reasonable cable laying methods are the basis for ensuring the stability and safety of power transmission. Therefore, it is of great practical significance to understand and master the basic principles and methods of cable laying.

First of all, cable laying should follow certain basic principles. Before laying, the model, specification and purpose of the cable must be fully understood, and the appropriate laying method should be selected according to the actual needs. Common laying methods include direct buried laying, pipe laying, bridge laying and cable trench laying. Different laying methods are suitable for different environmental conditions. For example, in urban roads, direct burial or pipe laying is usually adopted, while in industrial factories, bridge or cable trench is often used.

Secondly, attention should be paid to the bending radius of the cable during laying. Each cable has its minimum allowable bending radius. Too small bending will damage the cable insulation and affect its service life. At the same time, when laying, it is necessary to avoid mechanical damage to the cable, such as squeezing and scratching. Therefore, in the process of handling, traction and wiring, special tools should be used and operated by professionals.

In addition, cables should be laid in neat rows to avoid crossing and winding. In the case of parallel laying of multiple cables, the spacing should be properly set aside to facilitate heat dissipation and later maintenance. Especially in the environment of high temperature, humidity or corrosive gas, cables with corresponding protective performance should be selected, and necessary protective measures should be taken, such as installing fireproof tape and anticorrosive coating.

Grounding and fixing are also key links in cable laying. The metal sheath or shielding layer of the cable must be reliably grounded to prevent induced voltage and electrostatic accumulation. At the same time, the cable should be properly fixed during the laying process to prevent it from shifting or sagging due to gravity or external force, which will affect the operation safety.

Finally, strict inspection and testing should be carried out after laying is completed. Including cable insulation resistance test, withstand voltage test, continuity test, etc., to ensure good cable connection and no short circuit or open circuit. At the same time, the cable should be marked and recorded to facilitate future maintenance and management.

In a word, cable laying is a highly technical and demanding job, and it must be operated in strict accordance with the specifications. Only scientific planning, standardized construction and strict inspection can ensure the safe and stable operation of the cable system and provide a solid foundation for the efficient operation of the power system.
