How to supply power for industrial transformers

In modern industrial production, electricity is the core power to drive the operation of equipment. As one of the key equipments in power system, industrial transformer undertakes the important tasks of voltage conversion, power distribution and safety guarantee. Understanding how industrial transformers supply power is helpful to better understand the operation mechanism of power system and provide guarantee for the safety and efficiency of industrial power consumption.

I. Basic functions of industrial transformers

The main function of industrial transformer is to convert AC power of one voltage level into AC power of another voltage level to meet the use requirements of different equipment. For example, the high-voltage current introduced from transmission lines can not be directly used in factory equipment, and must be reduced to low-voltage electricity suitable for industrial equipment through transformers. On the other hand, in the process of long-distance transmission, a step-up transformer is needed to reduce the line loss.

Second, the power supply process of industrial transformer

The power supply process of industrial transformers usually includes the following key links:

1. Input power supply access
Industrial transformers are usually connected to a high-voltage power grid, such as a 10kV or 35kV power supply. This power supply usually comes from regional substations and is delivered to the factory distribution room through transmission lines.

2. Voltage conversion
After the current enters the primary winding of the transformer, the induced electromotive force is generated in the secondary winding by using the electromagnetic induction principle, so as to realize the voltage change. According to the turns ratio of the winding, the step-up or step-down function can be realized.

3. Output power distribution
The output voltage of the transformer is usually 400V or 690V, which is supplied to all kinds of electrical equipment in the factory, such as motors, lighting systems and control circuits. At the same time, the output terminal is usually equipped with circuit breakers and protective devices to ensure the safety of electricity use.

4. Grounding and protection system
In order to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment, transformer shell and neutral point should be reliably grounded and equipped with overload and short circuit protection devices to prevent the fault from expanding.

Three, the type and application of transformer

According to the purpose and structure, the common industrial transformers are dry-type transformers and oil-immersed transformers:

-Dry-type transformer: air-cooled, suitable for places with high fire protection requirements, such as high-rise buildings and subway stations.
-Oil-immersed transformer: It has good heat dissipation performance and is suitable for large-capacity and high-load industrial scenes, but it needs special fire prevention and isolation measures.

In addition, there are isolation transformers, autotransformer and other special types to meet different industrial needs.

Four, industrial transformer power supply matters needing attention

In order to ensure the stable power supply of industrial transformers, the following points should be noted during operation:

-Regularly check the operating temperature, sound and insulation status of the transformer;
-Ensure good ventilation and avoid overheating damage;
-Reasonable load to avoid long-term overload operation;
-Equipped with automatic protection device to cut off the fault circuit in time.
