Dry-type transformers are widely used in urban buildings, subways, hospitals, shopping malls and other places with high fire protection requirements because of their advantages of oil-free, environmental protection and good fire protection performance. However, although dry-type transformer does not use flammable insulating oil, there are still some fire hazards in its windings, insulating materials and peripheral equipment. Therefore, scientific and reasonable fire prevention measures are the key to ensure the safe operation of dry-type transformers.
First of all, the design and material selection of dry-type transformer should meet the fire protection standards. The winding material of transformer should be flame-retardant or flame-retardant insulation material, and the shell should be non-combustible or flame-retardant material to reduce the possibility of fire. At the same time, there should be a temperature monitoring and alarm system inside the transformer, which can timely warn and take protective measures to prevent overheating from causing fire.
Secondly, attention should be paid to the details of fire prevention during installation and operation. Dry-type transformers should be installed in a well-ventilated, dry and combustible-free environment to avoid fire caused by heat accumulation due to poor ventilation. Sufficient safe distance should be left around, and a fire isolation belt should be set up to prevent the fire from spreading. In addition, cable joints should be firm and well contacted to prevent overheating or even arc discharge caused by poor contact.
Third, we should strengthen the protection and maintenance of electrical lines. Regularly check the insulation performance of the transformer, the fastening of the terminal and the working state of the cooling system to ensure that the equipment is in good working condition. At the same time, the overload protection and short circuit protection devices are reasonably configured to prevent fires caused by electrical faults.
Finally, establish a sound fire emergency plan and management system. The distribution room where the dry-type transformer is located should be equipped with automatic fire extinguishing system, such as gas fire extinguishing system or dry powder fire extinguishing system, and obvious evacuation instructions and fire extinguishing equipment should be set at the same time. Staff should conduct regular fire drills to improve emergency response capability.
To sum up, although the dry-type transformer itself has good fire protection performance, it still needs to attach great importance to fire protection measures in all aspects of design, installation, operation and management. Only through comprehensive prevention and control can the fire risk be effectively reduced and the safe operation of equipment and personnel be ensured.
